Business Ethical Issues

Graduate business schools have an ongoing debate as to whether or not business ethics can be thought.  Whether it is a matter of the heart or an academic discipline that can be thought, business ethics will continue to play an important part of the global economy.  Included here are some timeless business and legal topics to ponder:

bulletPrice Cutting:  Price cutting, in and of itself, is not unethical or illegal.  There is a difference in spirit though between cutting prices to unload excessive inventory and undercutting the competitors.
bulletPrice Fixing:  Price fixing is both illegal and unethical.  Stated differently, it is a conspiracy designed to deliberately hurt competitors' businesses by fixing prices.
bulletIgnorance of Law:  Ignorance of law is no justification for breaking the law or to be exempt from the legal ramifications that comes with breaking the law.
bulletCoerced Leadership:  Employees will not respect a superior who believes in directive and not participative management.  Studies have shown that participative management styles make people feel as if their contribution is vital to the organization and, therefore, are willing to work longer and harder.

You have been given the basics and a starting point, go from there!
