Business Plan Outline

A business plan serves as a blueprint for business success.  A well thought out and written business plan is the first step in the crystallization of an idea into some tangible form.  These are the topics usually covered in a business plan:

This is Your Company, Inc.

  1. Executive Summary--This section includes an overview of the business and industry you intend to operate in and the amount of money your company is seeking to borrow.

  2. Company Description--Management, Background, and History

  3. Competition Analysis--SWOT: Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats

  4. Market Analysis--Size, trends, opportunity cost, demographics, distribution channels

  5. Marketing Plan--Manufacturing cost, economies of scale, distribution channel (mass, selective, exclusive), estimated sales and market share, 4P's marketing mix, strategy.

  6. Operations--Value chain, suppliers, linear programming, resource optimization, supply chain management, distribution.

  7. Management Team--Biographies of each key member of the management team

  8. Financials--Financing required, current financial statements, 3-5 pro forma financial statements.

You have been given the basics and a starting point, go from there!
