FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

DEMO-Pioneered Online Music Sales Certifications poised for download blitz

08.06.2003

NEW YORK--In memoriam to the upcoming August 16th anniversary of the death of Elvis Presley and the recent blitz of online music downloads, DEMO Digital & Electronic Music Organization (D-E-M-O) encourages musicians, record labels, and internet music lovers to use the established online music sales certifications process.

Any musical recording sales that were “caused” by the Internet that has achieved a sales level of at least 500,000 units or better will be recognized by being awarded a sales certification plaque by Andre Gray and the trade music organization that he created called DEMO (Digital & Electronic Music Organization).  In this context, the word “caused” shall be construed to mean downloaded, mail order, click through advertisement, and any future enabling technologies, etc.

Certifications levels of hierarchy and criteria:

·         Flash Gold™:  Certified global sales of 500,000—999,999 units worldwide that was caused by the Internet

·         Liquid Crystal™:  Certified global sales of 1,000,000—4,999,999 units worldwide that was caused by the Internet

·         Flaming Star™:  Certified global sales of 5,000,000+ units worldwide that was caused by the Internet

The secured electronic music sales (SEMS™) certifications process is initiated after DEMO receives a completed awards certifications form.  Next, DEMO conducts an independent audit of the label’s date warehouse analytics and other related records to quantifiably verify the secured electronic music sales (SEMS™) accuracy of claims.  If the label’s claims of sales of 500,000 units or better are quantifiably accurate, DEMO will present the appropriate sales plateau level certifications to the artist(s), label executives, record producers, engineers, managers, agents, and other key music industry players as requested by the artist(s) label.

Founder Andre Gray states, “The name for the DEMO secured music sales (SEMS™) certifications and their respective denominational levels were named after Elvis Presley, by far the single most successful, revolutionary, and important musical figure in the entire history of American popular music and the greatest cultural icon of the 20th century”.  Flash Gold™ was taken from an early nickname—Memphis Flash—given to him during his Sun Records days.  Liquid Crystal™ is part technology and part reference to his love for crystal china, hence the term liquid crystal.  Flaming Star™ is the name and title song of an early 1960’s Elvis western movie.

The certification process is global in scope encompassing all six continents.  Since the Internet has turned the world into a digital global village™ that has no geographical constraints, the sales certification criteria for each continent will be the same, regardless of sales analytics breakdown attributed to certain countries, regions, or hemispheres.

Andre Gray envisioned the concept of DEMO on 10.09.1999 to create an organization that will award certifications for secured electronic music sales (SEMS™) over the internet. The primary purpose of DEMO is to create a global de facto standard for online music sales and to promote all the musical genres of the world as a unifying force.
